POSITION SUMMARY
The Assembly Operator is responsible for producing high-quality finished products through the assembly, inspection, and operation of manufacturing equipment. This position supports production objectives by operating automated and manual equipment, monitoring product quality, handling materials, and maintaining accurate production records. The Assembly Operator works across multiple workstations and product lines, follows standardized work instructions, and contributes to a safe, efficient, and quality-focused manufacturing environment. The role requires flexibility to rotate among various assembly processes, equipment, and production areas as business needs require.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain awareness of and comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements to support a safe and productive work environment.
- Assemble components into finished products ready for shipment.
- Setup and adjust production machinery in accordance with operational requirements and quality standards.
- Sort, inspect, and rework nonconforming materials to ensure compliance with production and quality specifications.
- Run and monitor automated assembly and inspection equipment, including welders, presses, and vision sorting systems, while maintaining established quality and productivity standards.
- Move material, load machines, and unload machines.
- Inspect material during normal operation.
- Follow written work instructions.
- Enter production hours and output data into company systems and complete all required production documentation.
- Rotate throughout the department, operating a variety of equipment and working on different products and processes as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCES
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to perform all essential job functions safely, effectively, and in accordance with established quality and productivity standards.
SKILLS
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions, procedures, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing through simple correspondence and documentation.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
- Ability to apply practical problem-solving skills and make decisions within established processes and procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and material handling throughout the shift. Employees must be able to safely lift and move up to 35 pounds on a regular basis and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and coordination. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving equipment, industrial noise, and other conditions typical of a production facility. Compliance with all safety procedures and PPE requirements is mandatory.
