Quality Technician

The Quality Technician supports the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management Systems (QMS) for all product and process, under the guidance of Quality Engineers and Quality Manager.  Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Environmental

As an employee at ARaymond you help ensure the company meets all company, local, state and federal environmental requirements. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:​

  • Complying with all company environmental guidelines and procedures.
  • Participating in all required environmental training courses to stay informed about best practices and regulatory requirements.​

Product Quality

  • Performs inspection and testing such as Keyence, hand gages, load, insertion/extraction, leak test and other inspection and tests conducted within the lab scope.
  • Maintains documented inspection and test results as outlined in company procedures.
  • Takes correct actions when nonconforming material is identified.

Corrective actions

  • Coordinate with production teams when an issue is identified to determine containment, root cause and appropriate corrective actions. 
  • Conducts inspection and testing as needed to resolve internal and customer quality or PPAP issues.
  • Support external quality concern containment actions including identification of a “clean point” and coordinating the sorting of any suspect nonconforming products.
  • Support internal quality concern containment actions including identification of a “clean point” and coordinating the sorting of any suspect nonconforming products.
  • Participate and coordinate real time root cause analysis in conjunction with other Team members.

Training

  • Support and assist in the development of training programs related to processes and product quality. 
  • Provide guidance and training in the quality functions to Company personnel related to product quality and QMS updates.

Documentation

  • Maintains quality records as required for assigned tasks such as product inspection and testing, receiving inspection, capability studies, etc..
  • Initiates tool or maintenance work orders as needed and obtain samples after verification of root cause analysis with support from the Quality Engineer and Production Supervisor.
  • Performs SPC and reports results.  Recognizes trends and takes actions for product conformance.

Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in Continual Improvement Team activities related to product and processes.
  • Identifies issues with processes and submits issues for continuous improvement with recommendations when known. 

 

Other:

  • Assists engineering team, if necessary, during the tryout process by providing real time inspection and/or test data during tryout.
  • Support the APQP process through the investigation and implementation of appropriate corrective actions for failing PPAP’s and/or annual layouts/CAP Studies. 
  • Conduct internal Layered Audits (Product and Process) that are driven using the process auditing methodology for your respective area and processes.
  • Assist in the development & maintenance of PFMEA, Control Plan, and other Quality System documentation as needed to support APQP, CA or CI processes. 
  • Support the management of gage control and calibration system for your respective area and processes. 
  • Supports ATOMS processes and projects as assigned.
  • Performs any other Quality related function or duty as requested by Manager or Quality Engineer.
  • Back up, as necessary, for the Quality Technician with primary focus in molding or in assembly as applicable. 
  • Back up, as necessary, for the Safe Launch Coordinator.
  • Back up, as necessary, for the Quality Engineer.
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, associate’s degree or higher preferred.
  • 1-3 years of Quality assurance or related experience in automotive industry
  • Understand AIAG core tools.
  • Novice understanding of SPC.
    • Enter data and report out of control conditions.
    • Generate process capability reports and identify non-capable processes.
  • Novice understanding of IATF-16949 and customer specific requirements. 
    • Understand company quality policy.
    • Understand process compliance and ramifications of process noncompliance.
    • Understand product compliance and ramification of product noncompliance.
  • Novice understanding in injection molding / assembly.
    • Understand key molding parameters.
    • Understand error-proofing validation.
  • Novice understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
    • Obtain simple dimensions and tolerances from a drawing.
Skills
  • Ability to multi-task projects and prioritize tasks. 
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to use Micrometers, calipers, gages, Keyence measurement devices, Instron test devices, volt meters and fixtures.
  • Ability to work closely with others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Professional demeanor and ethical conduct, including handling confidential information appropriately.
