About the job
Interfacing with our numerous internal clients the IP Information Analyst provides Intellectual Property support on the business processes of the company and its affiliates. Within the Legal Department, according to the needs of patent engineers, R&D, Marketing and business operatives, the IP Information engineer define and implement strategies for monitoring and researching patents and designs.
This position reports to the Patent Manager, based in Grenoble.
Roles and responsibilities
Competitor patent information monitoring:
- Conduct thematic analyses of patent/ portfolios and third-party technological innovations and new relevant topics and trends.
- Continuously monitor and track competitors’ published patent applications and granted patents.
- Prepare regular reports and updates on competitors’ IP activities, including analysis of filing trends, newly published applications, in order to map third parties and their research directions.
- Provide early warnings on potential competitive threats based on patent filings and new technological developments.
Patent landscape studies:
- Conduct comprehensive patent landscape analyses about the strategic and advanced innovation projects of ARaymond group, to identify key trends, emerging technologies, new entrants, and white space opportunities.
- Generate reports that synthesize complex patent information into actionable insights for internal shareholders.
- Present findings to internal teams, including IP engineers, R&D and marketing teams.
Prior art Search:
- Conduct prior art search by querying the appropriate databases to identify elements relevant to a technicalsubject, particularly in the context of patentability analysis, FTO or patent invalidation.
Patent portfolio management:
- Participate and assist the annual review of ARaymond patent portfolio to ensure its high value and quality.
- Lead IP information management projects.
- Prepare a patent newsletter to raise awareness among other departments.
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant technical field such as mechanical engineering or similar.
- Additional qualifications or certifications in intellectual property, patent law, or IP analytics are a plus.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in patent research, IP analysis, or related roles within an international companies or law firm.
- Experience in patent landscaping, competitive IP analysis, and monitoring of patent filings.
- QPIP (Qualification of Information Professional) – CEIPI diploma is an advantage
- Proficiency with patent databases and tools (e.g., Patsnap, Orbit, etc.).
Skills
- Very good knowledge of the fundamentals of intellectual property in relation to patents/designs in various countriesExcellent research, data analysis, and reporting skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems and interpret patent data trends.
- Proactive and self-driven with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- A strategic thinker who can align IP activities with broader business goals.
