About the job

Responsible for maintaining high quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repair, and visual evaluation.

 

Roles and responsibilities

  • Must be a team player and educate and share ideals when needed.
  • Responsible for the correct disassembly and assembly molds in a safe and timely manner.
  • Able to clean molds and assist Maintenance Technicians when needed.
  • Work to a schedule and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
  • Utilize measuring equipment that include micrometers, calipers, height gage, bore micrometers, etc.
  • Assist in the monitoring process to help keep a reasonable component inventory in stock.
  • Reduce machine downtime.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment that are used including the daily cleaning of tool room machinery.
  • Assist in maintaining maintenance records on the company computer system.
  • Work with little or no supervision when given clear direction.
  • Work with Process Engineers to trouble shoot issues with tool or improve on.
  • Able to work on the production floor with tool in press to correct issues and reduce down time.
  • Ability to trouble shoot issues and repair.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education, Experience and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school or some college (preferred, but not required)
  • Prototype tool making and / or Plastic injection processing experience (preferred, but not required)
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenance. 
  • 3 years of experience using hand operated tool room equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristics.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift 55 pounds.
  • Excessive walking, bending, standing, climbing, and lifting.
  • Ability to visually inspect tools with high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to run machines and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Requires alertness, precision, and methodical attributes.
  • Ability to read and understand tooling work orders
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (able to speak, read and write English fluently)
  • Must be able to work in the U.S.
