About the job

The Quality Engineer supports the product quality function for injection molding products under the guidance of Quality Manager. The Quality Engineer will have responsibilities with development and maintenance of Quality elements as required according to automotive standards and quality management system. He or She will support APQP program manager and the development of quality documentation to ensure successful launches of new products and Engineering Changes to current products. Communicate effectively with APQP cross-function and Operation’s team. Responsible for customer claims’ corrective action on system base portals and for coordinating containment activities. Ensuring quality polices and operating procedures are carried out as defined in the quality system.

 

Roles and responsibilities

  • Lead quality activities from APQP kickoff to Start of Production (SOP) launch.
  • Participate in APQP activities with cross-functional team.
  • Manage Safe Launch activities and interact directly with the process owner to accomplish first time quality and minimal impact to COPQ.
  • Provide guidance to PPAP coordinators on quality records and documents and direct engagement with the supplier on escalated matters.
  • Develop and update Quality core document Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, Operator Instructions, and other Quality System documentation.
  • Update quality core documents to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in production and following customer specific requirements.
  • Monitor, review and report Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for APQP process and customer claims.
  • Manage quality related issues from customers and manufacturing and supplier base.
  • Coordinate containment activities for customer and internal quality concerns.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional team in resolving quality concerns with effective root cause analysis and permanent corrective action.
  • Interact with customers related to quality issues with effective root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Establish positive customer collaboration related to customer concerns, rejections, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor customer scorecards and engage direct process owners for corrective action if required.
  • Assist Quality Manager in preparing for customer quality surveys, audits, or reviews.
  • Coordinate ordering of Gages and Fixtures as required from APQP kick off.
  • Work together with cross-functional team on continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform effective methodology on product, process, and system audits, as required.
  • Participate in continues improvement initiatives (A Raymond Total Operations Management System - ATOMS).
  • Ensure compliance of the plant to IATF 16949 and Customer Specific Requirements (CSR) of the assigned customers.
  • Under guidance of Quality Manager establish plant quality standards, procedures or policies as needed.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as identified in company policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other Quality related function, as assigned, by Quality Manager 
  • Visit customer as required. 

 

 

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate Degree and Five years Quality Engineering experience
  • Five years of Injection Molding or related manufacturing process experience in automotive industry
  • Knowledge of QMS procedures, IATF, VDA and ISO standards
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with cross-functional members within company and some customer interface.
  • Knowledge of core tools and problem solving:  APQP core documents, 8D, 5Why, Ishikawa, SPC
  • Hands-on technical skills on corrective action activities with cross-functional team
  • Ability to adapt cross-training methodology within the department
