SUMMARY:

The Indirect Commodity Manager is responsible for sourcing and procuring indirect goods and services that support the organization’s operations. This role involves preparing bid specifications, evaluating vendor proposals, and making purchasing decisions with moderate financial impact. The Commodity Manager works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement strategies align with operational needs and cost objectives.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Source and procure indirect materials and services such as office supplies, IT equipment, professional services, facility-related goods, personal protection equipment, and transportation.
  • Prepare bid specifications, solicit and evaluate vendor bids, and negotiate pricing and terms.
  • Collaborate with department managers, engineers, and operations staff to understand purchasing requirements and ensure timely fulfillment.
  • Participate in vendor selection and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, service, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Exercise discretion in determining acceptable pricing and procurement methods.
  • Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance.
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing roles, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience with indirect procurement categories preferred.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with global sourcing and supplier development.

NON-REQUIRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent sitting.
  • Use of computer with repetitive mouse use, keyboarding and visual demands.
  • Must be able to work in the office (currently 3x/week) for collaborative purposes
