Roles and responsibilities

  • To assemble components into final, shippable product. 
  • Setup and adjust machines.
  • Sort and rework non-conforming materials. 
  • Operate automatic equipment. 
  • Move material, load machines, and unload machines. 
  • Inspect material during normal operation. 
  • Follow written work instructions. 
  • Input hours and production into computer system and complete necessary written paperwork. 
  • Operator is rotated throughout the department, working on different product or machines daily. 
  • A general knowledge and awareness of environmental policy and support to ensure its satisfactory integration. 

 

Education and experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. 
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instruction.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 

 

 

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and reach with hands and arms, or stand to load and unload machines, depending on which workstation the operator is assigned. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.  The employee is required to walk, climb, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist and balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
