Process Engineer
SUMMARY:
Tryout and approve the mechanical functions of plastic injection molding tools according to Company tool standards and multiple types of material. Recommend changes to tooling, machines and ancillary equipment. Establish robust processes for existing and new products to ensure long term product quality and production efficiency.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all tool tryouts including prototype, production, and engineering changes per the established company procedures and timeline.
- Maintain proper documentation for all tryouts conducted and communicate tryout results to APQP team and others
- Provides feedback and recommendations to APQP team on tooling, machine, and other auxiliary equipment changes to ensure tool is capable of running efficiently and high quality product.
- Develop documentation for new jobs with all required information and make changes to existing jobs as required to ensure information is current.
- Optimize production processes to improve product quality and production efficiency.
- Set tools in machine and start-up as required to support production
- Train and mentor personnel in tool setup, machine operation, and processing.
- Responsible for insuring all processes are set up and maintained correctly in molding machines.
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure production jobs are running to established processes and communicates results to molding team
- Lead and/or participate in quality improvement, efficiency improvement and scrap reduction initiatives.
- Investigate and recommend new technologies and processes for continuous improvement
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience of 5 or more years in plastics manufacturing
- 5 plus years of plastic manufacturing work experience, specifically process controls experience.
- Scientific Molding Techniques such as RJG
- Thorough understanding of molding parameters, materials, process controls.
- Blueprint reading and knowledge of tooling.
- Molding machine functionality.
- Good imagination, methodical approach to process.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Work well on own initiative and in a group.
- Good computer skills.
Must be eligible to work in the United States of America.
