About the job

Shape the future of ARaymond as part of our manufacturing engineering team! Join our team to try out and approve the mechanical functions of plastic injection molding tools according to specific standards and multiple types of material.  Recommend changes to tooling, machines, and ancillary equipment.  Establish robust processes for existing and new products to ensure long term product quality and production efficiency..

 

Roles and responsibilities

  • Perform all tool tryouts including prototype, production, and engineering changes per the established company procedures and timeline
  • Maintain proper documentation for all tryouts conducted and communicate tryout results to Engineering and APQP teams
  • Provides feedback and recommendations to Engineering team on tooling, machine, and other auxiliary equipment changes to ensure tool can run efficiently and produce a high-quality product
  • Develop documentation for new jobs with all required information and make changes to existing jobs as required to ensure information is current
  • Optimize production processes using scientific molding to improve product quality and production efficiency.
  • Set tools in machine and start-up as required to support production
  • Train and mentor personnel in tool setup, machine operation, and processing
  • Responsible for ensuring all processes are set up and maintained correctly in molding machines
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure production jobs are running to established processes and communicates results to molding team
  • Lead and/or participate in quality improvement, efficiency improvement and scrap reduction initiatives
  • Investigate and recommend new technologies and processes for continuous improvement 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience of 5 or more years 
  • Minimum of 2 years RJG experience
  • Experience/education providing a thorough understanding of molding parameters, materials, and process controls.
  • Experience troubleshooting and problem solving plastic injection molding processes.
  • Knowledge of molding machine functionality, blue print reading, and tooling.
  • Automation experience in programming and designing (End of Arm tooling) 
  • Experience as a Plastic Injection Process Engineer – preferred, but not required
  • Experience process setting for Bi-injection (2-shot) Molding – preferred, but not required
  • RJG Master Molder 1 and/or 2 Certification(s) or equivalent Injection Molding training – preferred but not required

 

Skills and requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication; works well on own initiatives and/or in a group.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Applications).
  • Ability to set any tool.
  • Ability to lift 55 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, climb a ladder, and walk on a cement floor for the entire shift
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently and be authorized to work in the U.S.
